Format:

We are excited and honored to host our Fall Action Challenge this year with a memorial event being hosted alongside it. This past summer, one of our founding members Larry Waite passed away. It is our desire to honor him and host a special event in his honor. Larry was a kind man who cared about the people around him. Larry always invested in chess. He ran a local school chess club years before joining ours. He donated equipment to the Grand Rapids Chess Center. Anyone who played against him in a game of chess or shared a conversation with him was better for it. Our desire is to honor Larry and his life at this event.

Alongside our traditional G/30;d10 event we will host a Larry Waite Memorial Tournament section. It will be geared toward kids and newer USCF-rated adults. There will be some special prizes in his honor and the section will be low-cost for all involved. We would love to have you join us for this special event.

G/20;d5 - 4 Rounds (NOT USCF RATED BUT OPEN TO U1000 USCF)

Main Event Schedule - 10:00AM, 11:30, 1:30, 3:00, 4:30

Memorial Event Schedule - 10:00AM, 11:00, 1:00, 2:00

Entry Fee:

Main Event - $50 ($40 for active GRCC member)

Unrated Memorial Section - $10
